Nigerian basketball sensation Oguntimileyin Oluwatamilore, who captained Purple House to victory at the 9th Biennial Inter-House Sports competition of JNISSI Schools, shares his journey, passion for basketball, and admiration for NBA star Stephen Curry in this interview with Sportxvibe.com.ng.
Q: How do you feel winning this competition?
A: First of all, we have to thank God because everything we did started with prayer. Right now, I feel electric that we were able to get first place. It was not easy, but we made it.
Q: Can you talk about teamwork and what helped your team succeed?
A: When we first started, not everybody was coordinated and teamwork wasn’t strong. But as we kept working, we improved. We always had each other’s backs, and that helped us succeed.
Q: What sports did you participate in?
A: I participated in basketball, tug of war, and shot put. I wasn’t fully fit because I fractured my leg last year, so I couldn’t do everything, but I still tried my best.
Q: Do you have ambitions to play sports professionally?
A: Yes, especially basketball. I love basketball so much.
Q: Can you speak about your love for basketball and your efforts to grow?
A: I started playing basketball even before I entered JNISSI Schools, but the school took me to the next level. I’m grateful to them and also to God.
Q: Who is your favorite basketball player?
A: Stephen Curry.
Q: Why do you love Stephen Curry?
A: I love the way he shoots. Even if you put two or three defenders on him, he still believes the ball will go in.
Q: Do you think the Golden State Warriors can become champions again?
A: They’re not playing well right now, but they can still make the playoffs.
Q: Do you believe you can play at the highest level someday?
A: Yes, I believe I will get the chance.
