The defending champion of the Milo basketball championship Topfield College has expressed optimism to retain the title ahead of the tournament final match against Dom Domigos college of Delta.
The final is billed to hold tomorrow, Friday June 28 at indoor sports hall inside the National stadium, Surulere.
The two teams’ road to final has proven their determination to emerge the winner, scaling through the hurdles from the groups stage matches to securing the tickets to the final.
The intensely consented semi-finals fixtures saw the Southwest derby encounter between Topfield college in Lagos versus Onireke High School in Ibadan which ended in a seven points margin, resulting in 42-35 in favor of the Lagos representative.
Also the second fixture was between Dom Domigos of Delta versus Zaruma Model college in Niger which team Delta convincingly defeated Niger with a ten points margin 46-36 to grab the ticket.
The matches were played on Wednesday at the indoor sports hall inside the National stadium, Surulere.
It could be recalled that the road to the final began with the content among twelve schools grouped into 4 groups in both male and female categories were announced during the draws held yesterday in Lagos.
The schools scaled through the preliminares stages in both the Northern and Southern conferences to get to the finals.
Ahead of the final, Lagos team’s coach Olayinka Oyeyomi appreciated his players’ commitment to qualify for the final, expressing optimism that his team would secure the victory.
“I want to assure the Lagosians that we are not going to disappoint them because we need their help to ginger the players and we promise to claim that victory by the grace of God,” he said.
