Oyo State is gearing up as action will resume with excitement in the highly anticipated Club Classics Basketball League which is set to launch on February 17.

The innovative tournament is designed to drive basketball development in the region while providing a competitive platform for young talents to shine.

Speaking ahead of the league’s kickoff, Barrister Damola Awosika, Vice Chairman of the Oyo State Basketball Association, outlined the tournament’s objectives.

“Our primary goal is to promote basketball in the state, fulfilling one of my mandates as a board member of the state basketball association. Additionally, we aim to offer a competitive platform for players in the state to showcase their skills, with a particular focus on the development of younger players,” he said.

He added that the highpoint of the league is its focus on youth development, saying participating teams are required to include under-18 players, who must receive mandatory playing time, ensuring that the next generation of basketball stars gets the exposure and experience needed to grow.

Awosika who doubles as the founder and CEO of Hoop Dreams Basketball Academy has a long-standing commitment to nurturing young talent, and the Club Classics League is a testament to that passion.

Basketball fans in Oyo State can look forward to an electrifying tournament that not only promises high-level competition but also aims to create a pipeline for the stars of tomorrow.
