MILO Nigeria, in partnership with former Super Eagles captain and MILO Brand Ambassador Ahmed Musa, has concluded the inaugural MILO × Ahmed Musa Sports Clinic and Tournament in Kano, providing more than 2,500 young footballers with professional coaching, mentorship and competitive football experience.
The two-week initiative featured 10 coaching sessions, giving participants the opportunity to improve their football skills and compete in matches under the guidance of Musa and experienced coaches. Beyond technical training, the programme emphasised teamwork, discipline, resilience and confidence as essential values for young athletes both on and off the pitch.
The initiative culminated in a tournament at the Ahmed Musa Sports Complex in Kano, where Khamis Football Academy emerged as champions of the inaugural edition. Participants also received cash prizes, certificates and football equipment in recognition of their involvement and achievements.
Speaking on the initiative, Gilbert Tweneboah-Koduah, Category Lead, MILO, said the programme reflects the brand’s commitment to youth development through sports.
“At MILO, we believe sport is a powerful platform for young people to discover their abilities, build confidence and develop values that extend beyond the field of play. Our partnership with Ahmed Musa brings together MILO’s longstanding commitment to sports development and the experience of an athlete whose journey from grassroots football to the highest level of the game can inspire the next generation,” he said.
Tweneboah-Koduah added that combining Musa’s experience with structured coaching and competition had created an opportunity for young footballers in Kano to develop their abilities, learn from experienced professionals and better understand the dedication required to pursue their ambitions.
For participating players, the clinic provided an opportunity to learn from an athlete whose football journey began in northern Nigeria before progressing to the highest levels of the sport. Musa’s experience offered aspiring footballers a practical example of how discipline, consistent training and determination can support their development.
Commenting on the partnership, Ahmed Musa said Nigeria had abundant football talent but stressed that young players needed more than natural ability to succeed.
“Nigeria has incredible football talent, but talent alone is not enough. Young players need good coaching, regular competition and people who will guide them. I am proud to partner with MILO and share some of what football has taught me. My message to these players is simple: keep training, listen to your coaches and work hard every day to improve,” Musa said.
The former Super Eagles captain also called for increased investment in grassroots football, highlighting the need to provide young players with access to quality coaching, structured development programmes and regular competitive opportunities.
The MILO × Ahmed Musa Sports Clinic and Tournament builds on MILO Nigeria’s longstanding commitment to youth development through sports. Through school-based and grassroots sporting initiatives, the brand continues to promote participation in sports while creating opportunities for young people to develop their abilities and embrace values that can benefit them throughout their lives.
