After a gripping series of group-stage clashes and semifinal showdowns that delivered drama from the first whistle, the Faculty of Arts Students Association (FASA) and organising body Team Catalyst can now confirm the blockbuster pairings for the grand finale of the most anticipated faculty sporting event in the University of Lagos calendar.
History versus Philosophy in the female category. Creative Arts versus History in the male category.
Both finals hold on Friday, June 20, 2025, at the Sports Centre, University of Lagos. Mark the date.
How We Got Here: The Road to the Final
Female Category
The tournament opened with a statement of intent from the National Association of Philosophy Students, who dismantled the National Association of Linguistics and Languages Students (LAAS) 2–0 in the group stage, guided by the composed leadership of Cynthia and Elizabeth. Meanwhile, History, English Language (NAELS) and European Language and Integration Studies (ELIS) scrapped their way through a competitive group, setting up a semifinal round that would not disappoint.
Semifinal 1 — History 2–1 LAAS
History stepped up when it mattered most, edging a determined LAAS side in a tightly contested semifinal. LAAS pushed hard and found the net to make it a nervy finish, but History held their composure to claim a 2–1 victory and book their place in the final. It was a win that announced History as genuine title contenders — disciplined, efficient and capable of managing pressure moments.
Semifinal 2 — Philosophy 2–0 English Language (NAELS)
Philosophy, unbeaten and growing in confidence with every fixture, continued their imperious run with a commanding 2–0 victory over NAELS. Organised at the back and clinical going forward, they were simply too good on the day. Their journey to the final has been built on a foundation of tactical intelligence and collective resolve — the very qualities that carried them past NAELS and into the showpiece.
Male Category
The male group stage served up the tournament’s defining story: FACASA (Creative Arts), written off as rank underdogs, stunned the faculty’s most feared side — History — with a stunning 2–0 victory that sent shockwaves through the entire competition. Nobody saw it coming. It changed everything.
But History, stung by that early defeat, were not done. A rescheduled fixture against Philosophy gave them a chance at redemption — and they took it.
Semifinal 1 — Creative Arts (FACASA) 3–0 LAAS
FACASA did not arrive at the semifinal on sentiment alone. They backed up their giant-killing with a ruthless and dominant 3–0 demolition of LAAS — a result that confirmed they are no fluke. Three goals, a clean sheet and a performance full of energy, organisation and attacking intent. The underdogs have become genuine contenders, and the faculty is beginning to believe.
Semifinal 2 — History 1–0 Philosophy (Rescheduled)
History refused to let their ARTLYMPICS 6.0 campaign unravel. In a rescheduled semifinal encounter against Philosophy, they delivered a focused, disciplined performance and ground out a crucial 1–0 victory to zoom into the final. It was not flashy — but it was effective. History are back. And they have unfinished business.
The Finals Preview
Female Final — History vs Philosophy
This is the final ARTLYMPICS 6.0 deserves.
On one side, History — a side that has shown resilience, game management and the ability to win tight, difficult matches. Their semifinal win over LAAS proved they can handle pressure. On the other, Philosophy — arguably the most complete side in the female category, unbeaten in regulation, with two clean sheets to their name and a collective quality that has impressed throughout the tournament.
Cynthia and Elizabeth will be key figures for Philosophy as they chase what would be a historic first ARTLYMPICS title. History, however, will not yield easily. They have earned their place at this table and carry the quiet confidence of a side that has been tested and emerged standing.
Expect tactical chess, moments of individual brilliance and a finish that could go either way.
Male Final — Creative Arts (FACASA) vs History
This is the rematch nobody expected — and everyone now demands.
When FACASA stunned History 2–0 in the group stage, it was the upset of the tournament. The story of underdogs refusing to be written off. Now, fate has brought them back together on the grandest stage of all, with the ARTLYMPICS 6.0 title on the line.
History will arrive hungry for revenge and redemption, having regrouped admirably to reach the final via a disciplined semifinal win. FACASA will arrive with nothing to lose and everything to prove — the same dangerous mindset that toppled History the first time around.
Can FACASA complete one of the most remarkable stories in ARTLYMPICS history? Or will History rewrite the ending?
