Beyond limit Gothia

Defending Gothia Puma Trophy champions Beyond Limits FA of Nigeria continued their spectacular title defense in Sweden, securing a commanding 3-0 victory over Swedish giants IFK Göteborg at the SKF Arena on Wednesday.

The Ikenne-based youth academy displayed a brilliant mixture of tactical discipline, blistering pace, and raw resilience. Despite playing the final five minutes of the match with ten men, the Nigerians completely shut down a formidable Göteborg side that had won both of their opening matches prior to the clash.

Mark Strikes Early to Set the Pace

Just like their previous 7-0 blowout victory against IF Brommapojkarna, Beyond Limits made their intentions clear right from the opening whistle.

It took the Nigerian side just three minutes to break the deadlock. Akpabio Mark, continuing his sensational tournament form, latched onto a defense-splitting pass and coolly slotted the ball past the Göteborg goalkeeper to make it 1-0.

The early goal immediately forced IFK Göteborg onto the back foot, allowing the Nigerian midfield to take complete control of the possession and dictate the tempo of the game on the artificial turf. Göteborg struggled to find an answer to the high-pressing system employed by the African champions, ending the first half with the visitors firmly in control.

Double Blow Stuns Göteborg

If the first half was a battle of tactical positioning, the start of the second half was an absolute blitz. Beyond Limits put the game completely out of reach with two goals in the span of just sixty seconds.

In the 48th minute, tournament standout Memud Olamillekan Frank found the back of the net to double the lead. Following up on his hat-trick from the previous matchday, Frank’s clinical execution showed exactly why he is one of the most feared forwards in the B17 category this year.

Before the Swedish side could even restart and reorganize, Beyond Limits struck again. In the 49th minute, Saka Yusuf Adekunle capitalized on a defensive lapse to fire home a third, making it 3-0 and sending the Nigerian bench and fans into wild celebrations.

Red Card and Resilient Finish

With a comfortable three-goal cushion, Beyond Limits comfortably managed the closing stages of the match. However, the game took a dramatic turn in the 55th minute when midfielder Bashir Ghali Mekaji was shown a straight red card.

Down to ten men for the final five minutes of regular play, the coaching staff quickly adjusted the team’s shape. The defense stood rock-solid, absorbing the late pressure from Göteborg to preserve a well-deserved clean sheet and seal the 3-0 victory.
