TEAM Delta state has not recorded a win to earn a medal in the opening day of weightlifting event of the 7th National Youth Games held inside a hall at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, Delta state, Sportxvibe.com.ng can confirm.
This investigation came on the heel of a report that circulated on social media and media outlets that a Delta state athlete won Gold in the 45 kg weightlifting event.
But after the end of the series of activities of Day one at the weightlifting event, Delta state was missing among the winners of the confirmed results released by the Media officer, Nigeria Weightlifting Federation, Mr. Amaechi Vitus Agbo.
The report showed that Bayelsa and Lagos won more medals on the opening day of the weightlifting event at the 7th National Youth Games, NYG in Asaba, Delta State Capital.
It was revealed that Lagos State won three medals, two gold and a bronze in the women’s 45kg while Bayelsa State picked all the three gold medals in the 49kg men’s category.
