NYC:Lagos, Abia, Imo, Others Worry as Some Medal Hopefuls Failed Screening, Move for Appeal

Team Lagos, Abia, Imo and other states were shocked with the thorough screening by the Main Organizing Committee for the 6th National Youths Games in Ilorin as some of the state medal hopeful failed their screening.

The screening held in the stadium inside the University of Ilorin Unilorin was earlier fixed for Tuesday, 12th October 2021 was shifted to Thursday, 14th October 2021.

Motley of athletes sprawled into the court of the judges, some left the screening with joy while some faces were frown.

In Lagos, our correspondent gathered eight of the athletes in the male football team did not receive the nod of the screening team. Also in Golf, their representative who had been playing for the Lagos Team since when he was age10 was screened out.

For Abia state, seven out of their seventeen ahletes did not meet the requirements of the screening team while all their badminton players were screened out.

In the same vien, Imo state, eight of their athletes in athletic failed their screening.

Other states were not left out, they all had mirage of challenge in relation to the screening.

In quick response, states affected wrote a letter of appeal, attaching necessary documents including their birth certificate to authenticate their players’ participation in this edition.
