Magate FC has ended the unbeaten streak of one their counterpart Zenith Emperor FC in the same group A1 in the ongoing 2020/2021 Nation-Wide League One (NLO ) season which ended 3-1 in their favor at Remo Stadium, Ogun State.
The exciting first half under a calm weather witnessed an early penalty awarded to Zenith Emperor Fc owning to an hand ball by their opponent but was missed by their striker Okunola Lekan two minutes after the blast of the referee’s whistle.
Three minutes later, Lekan suffered from his goal bank as he was unable to convert another opportunity he roofed over the bar which nearly got him frustrated.
After string of passes by the Ogun state based team, Magate FC player Akinropo Akeem gave his club the lead after he slotted in a re bounce from ZEFC Yusuf Rasheed goal keeper in the twelve minutes.
It was a shock that went down to the spine of Zenith Emperor FC seven minutes later after Adeolu Adelakun of Magate FC doubled the lead which has not happened in since the commencement of the league for ZEFC to concede first goal.
In the 31 minutes, ZEFC striker Lekan struggled to register his fifth goal of the season after he collided with Magate Fc goal keeper Destiny, halving the deficit for his team.
But 52 minutes Adekunle Adedimeji of Magate FC sealed the victory for his team after he scored third goal.
ZEFC substitute Oluwaseun was sent off after he elbowed his opponent.
Explaining why the team did not start with their starting eleven, ZEFC coach Mr. Uwem Stanley said he added fresh legs so as to keep other fit for other matches and test their ability, adding that they would work hard for the next game.
“We had a bad day from the entire department. We could have won convincing. We kept the game up until the first goal. We added fresh legs to reserve others. The penalty was a rush in our blood.” He said.
