Nigeria’s Ogunsakin wins African Junior Championship

Nigeria’s sole representative, Seun Ogunsakin, has emerged as the champion of the 2025 African Junior Championship in Egypt.

Ogunsakin, who delivered a remarkable performance during the tournament, outclassed his Raguin Ntungamili from Botswana to clinch the title.

The Nigerian teenage sensation’s road to the final was a stroll in the park, defeating his opponent in two straight sets, en route to reaching the final.

Ogunsakin, former African U-14 number one player, defeated Tunisia’s Darmoul Ahmed, the tournament’s number four seed, 6-2, 6-3 to set up a final matchup against Ntungamili.

The Botswana player won all his matches without dropping a set, and reached the final after seeing off impressive El Aouni Reda, in two well-fought sets of 7-6 (5), 6-1.

The African Junior Championship is a tournament for the best U-16 players on the continent, selected according to the Junior ITF Rankings.

Nigeria’s Ogunsakin, is the highest ranked player in the competition, and the number one seed.
