Yusuf Maitama Sule University, YUMSUK and School of Hygiene, SH Kano have qualified into the semi finals of the ongoing National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS Inter- Campus football competition held in Kano state.
Also, School of General Studies, SGS and Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education, SRCOE have booked their spots in the semi finals.
The competition, according to association sports’ director C. Mardiya has been planned to start with the preliminaries among tertiary institutions in the 36 states including FCT and winners in each states will qualify to zonal level to get the national winner of the competition.
“The inter campus is going to take place in all the 36 states including FCT, after we finish the whole states, we are going to the zonal levels of A,B,&D, then the zones will come and play together to bring one winner. It is for all monothenic, polytechnic, universities, and colleges of education.” She said.
She added that the preliminaries began in Kano state playing among 16 tertiary institutions in the state, disclosing that Bauchi state will hold the next competition at state level.
“We have started already, it is only a football competition, Bauchi will be the next, till the end of the month, we are going to round in Kano.” She said.
To get into the semi final, the School of Hygiene pummeled Kano state university of science and technology 3-0 while Yusuf Maitama Sule University defeated Aminu Kano College of Islamic Studies 4-3 in penalty shootout at Sa’adatu Rimi college of education in Kano state.
Also, the School of General Studies (SGS) edged out School of Technology (SOT), 2-1 while Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education (SRCOE) piped Bayero University Kano (BUK) 2-1.
The semi final will played on Tuesday, 25 January 2022 at Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education Zaria Road Kano state.The competition is sponsored by Senator Barau Jibrin Maliya representing Kano north.
