MiloGRIT: Nigerian Sports Journalist, Godwin Enakhena Urges Parents to Allow Kids Play Sports

A veteran sports journalist in Nigeria, Mr. Godwin Enekhena has advised parents to allow their children to play sports, saying that both sports and education play pivotal role in the growth of their child.

Mr. Enakehna who gave this advice in a video shared via his twitter handles @genakhena sponsored by Nestle Milo through the MiloGrit campaign, narrated his ordeals while growing up, stressing that his choice to do sports hit firm resistance from his father who wanted him to face his academics squarely.

“The story of my dad and I, he never wanted me to play sports. He felt I was wasting away without education. Did I ever listen to him? What he did next was to place a curse on saying if I don’t leave football, I would never make it in life.” He said.

However, he stood firm, revealing that sports have taken him to the apex height through the proceeds available from sports which confidence, believing in one self and the passion to never give up.

“Like I said before, I never left sports and today sports have taken me to thee greatest heights through GRIT, those things I learnt playing football that confidence, that belief in oneself, that belief that you can be the best, and beat whoever is the best.” He said.

He explained that sports expose one to some virtues that education would not offer.

“There is something your kids would learn that I tell you education would not give to them. That is determination, that is the belief that I be the best, yes that competitive nature, that you cannot get in education.” He said.
