LaspoSUG Cup starts May 22

The 2018/2019 Lagos state polytechnic Students’ Union Government (LASPOSUG) League has ended abruptly due to the ongoing crisis rocking the institution.
In a chat with sportxvibe.blogspot.com, the bedrock of technology’ sports director, Comrade Yusuf Adesina disclosed that the lingering crisis that has forced the members of Non Academic Staff Union (NASU) to down their tools for over 3 months put to an halt to the LASPOSUG league.
But in a bid to stem to the tide in order to determine the winner for the institution’s annual football tournament, Yusuf said that the alternative was to opt to change the league format to group stages.
“Due to the ongoing crisis, we can’t continue the league, so we switched to cup format to finish early.” He said.
Since the commencement of the crisis, the School of Management and Business Studies, (SMBS) Isolo missed matches during the league due to lack of means of transportation to convey them to the main campus Ikorodu.
But to mitigate this challenge, the sports director said the management has assured to fund their transportation.
“The issue is that through the management, they will fund their transportation.” He said.
Kicking off on Wednesday, May 22, 2019, in group A, the School of Agriculture will slug it out against School of Communication and Liberal Studies (SC&LS) while School of Management and Business Studies (SM&BS) Ikorodu will face School of Environmental.
In group B, School of Management and Business Studies, Isolo will lock horn against School of Technology while School of Engineering will play against School of Applied Science.
