Rising football talent Korede Akindele, fondly called Koko, is already making waves in youth football circles.
The Children International School JS1 student starred for Drazzler FC, who clinched third place at the recently concluded Isupa League held at the American International School.
Despite helping his team secure a podium finish in the competitive one-day tournament, the young forward admitted he had mixed feelings about the outcome.
Speaking to Sportxvibe.com.ng after the event, Koko described his performance as “okay,” though he wished his team could have repeated their gold medal success from the previous edition.
“I feel okay,” Koko said. “Yeah, my performance when compared to the last edition could be a bit better, but it was still okay.”
Known for his energy, ball control, and composure under pressure, Koko continues to attract attention as one of the brightest prospects in his age group.
He attributes much of his progress to the unwavering encouragement from his family.
“My parents support me a lot,” he shared proudly.
When asked about his football inspiration, Koko named Barcelona FC’s Lamine Yamal as his role model, citing the player’s skill, discipline, and passion for the game as traits he hopes to emulate.
“My role model is Lamine Yamal ,” he added.
With his eyes firmly set on the future, Koko’s ambitions go beyond school and youth tournaments.
“I see myself becoming a professional football player,” he declared with confidence.
As he continues to hone his skills, Korede “Koko” Akindele’s determination and talent suggest that his dream of turning professional may not be far from reality.
