The organiser of collegiate football showpiece in Nigeria, Higher Institutions Football League, HIFL has joined the world university governing body- International University Sports Federation, FISU to celebrate the International Day of University Sports, IDUS.

On the social media account of HIFL, it announced to reward fans that get the answer to a question raised on it social media. The winners will get their reward on the final of the 2022 HIFL match between Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, FUOYE Dazzlers and Kwara State University, KSU Steelers, billed to hold on Saturday, September 24th 2022 at Yabatech Sport Pavillion, Lagos.

According to IDUS, the International University Sports Federation, FISU, has been running annually since 2016. It is supported by UNESCO and shares the same date as the very first Student World Championships in 1924. The internationally-recognised day highlights the importance of linking universities and their local communities together through sport, physical activity and healthy living. 

“It’s a day of celebration, not only for universities and higher education students but also for their local communities,” said FISU Acting President Leonz Eder. “It is an opportunity to try new sports, to engage in local or traditional customs and recognize that sports play an important role in our lives.”
