The University of Lagos (UNILAG) Marines footballer, Olanipekun Isaac is aiming high at the 11th Federation of African University Sports (FASU) Games, expressing his desire not only to secure the gold medal with his team but also to emerge as the tournament’s top scorer.
After securing two crucial victories, Isaac who scored the late-winning goal during the second group B fixture, against Nkumba University which ended, 2-1 shared his thoughts on the team’s performance and his personal ambitions. “I feel great because we wanted to win this game so badly, and it was a collective effort. I really appreciate my teammates,” Isaac said, reflecting on the match.
Setting his sights on becoming the competition’s highest goalscorer, Isaac emphasized the importance of mental preparation in football. “Football is a game of mental readiness. Before each match, I always prepare myself mentally. Sometimes, I isolate myself to understand the rhythm of the game,” he explained.
With his off-the-ball movement and tactical awareness, Isaac is determined to help lead UNILAG Marines to victory while achieving his personal goal of standing out as the tournament’s top striker.
