After crossing the hurdles of preliminaries, no fewer than 8 schools from each zones have emerged to participate in the maiden edition of the Secondary Schools Football Championship organized by the Kwara state chapter of the Nigeria School Sports Federation.
The Championship is under the auspices of the Ministry of Education and Human Capital.
Schools that will slug it among themselves includes C&S College (Ilorin East Zone), ECWA Secondary School of Igbaja (Asa zone), Lafiagi Secondary Schools (Edu-zone), Oke-Opin Anglican College (Omu-Aran zone), Offa Grammar School (Offa zone), Sheikh Abdulkadri College (Ilorin West zone), Al-lateef Model College (Ilorin South zone) and Government Secondary School Alawon-Oja (Asa).
The road to the championship which would be played at the Kwara Football Academy, and the final at the main bowl of the Kwara State Stadium Complex began last term from the preliminaries among schools of both private and public schools.
According to Mr. A.S Bakare of the ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, he said the competition would be played on knock-out basis to determine who emerged winner.
He assured that the preliminaries was void of manipulation due to being monitored and supervised by the NSSF to ensure that mercenaries were not included and adherence to hitch-free competition .
Bakare who sits as a member of the board of Kwara State Sports Commission commended the Executive chairman of the competition and the administrator of the Kwara Football Association for the support.
