The father of Everton midfielder Dele Alli, Kehinde Alli has promised to sponsor Nigerians budding kids at the Southampton Fc’ Community Football Hub.
It could be recalled that the sports minister John Enoh lauded the effort of the representatives of the Southampton FC Community Football Hub during their visited to Nigeria.
Ahead of the launch of the project, the coordinator David Doherty revealed during an Instagram live interview with SGSglobalsports that prominent football lovers have shown interest to support with the donation to sponsor indigent children to achieve their dream of playing football.
“As I am telling you, one of my good brothers who Dele Alli Dad messaged me on WhatsApp and say David how much is to sponsor a kid for a year. He is just telling one year. I am very guarantee he can pick up ten on his own single-handedly. I have sent him the certificate and identity card, he will unveil it, every kids in every location.
“People don’t what we are bringing. We are coming big. We don’t Dangote or Otedola to make it happen. We can tell with the numbers we have everywhere in the world. We will make them see the significance of that thing,” he said.
He disclosed that over a million naira is needed to achieve this project, saying that vision was borne out to encourage young ones in rural areas to have access to the training.
“We are doing this from our pockets without sponsorship anywhere and at least minimum of about one plus something million for a year. It is part of what we want to do for kids outside the public space, those that cannot afford,” he said.
He urged parents to allow their kids play football, clarifying that the project is not the scheme to identify and sell players.
“Southampton is not there to set up their own academy, as is football community hub for people to come and train the Southampton way. We don’t sell they will buy you in America. Our own is to put the structure in place but let’s have a youth system that can feed through the community,” he said.
