Ogundele Olasubomi on Wednesday announced her arrival on the professional stage with a crucial debut goal for Remo Stars Ladies in a thrilling start to the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) season.
The highly anticipated clash against Confluence Queens ended in a 3-1 with Olasubomi’s heroics securing a vital point for her side to restore parity in the 47 minutes at the confluence stadium in Lokoja.
Dubbed a rising star in Nigerian and African collegiate football, Olasubomi, who has collected numerous accolades at collegiate tournaments, was the cynosure of all eyes as she stepped onto the pitch for her first professional league match.
Despite the pressure, she delivered a standout performance, living up to her growing reputation.
The opening goal came from Confluence Queens, who capitalized on an early defensive lapse to take the lead in the first half.However, Remo Stars Ladies levelled the score in the 47 minutes.
12 minutes later, Remo Ladies doubled the lead through Arubo Oluwaseyi who showcased her composure and skill in the, netting a beautifully placed shot.
After a few minutes of football artistries, Remo Stars Ladies added to the score line through Bolaji Olamide whose goal sealed the victory for the visiting side.
The match ended 3-1 in favor of Remo Stars Ladies.
