Nigeria’s 100m athlete, Igbigbidje James Clifford has said his ambition is to record a new Personal Best (PB) at the ongoing U-18 & U-20 combined African Athletes Championship in MKO Abiola stadium, Abeokuta, Ogun state.
Clifford recorded 11.44s, finishing behind South Africa’s Mukoma Manavhela 11.38 to emerge as the second in the Heat 1 100m race, grabbing a ticket to the semis.
According to him, the 11.44s does not reflect his current PB at 10.50 in 100m, hoping to improve and get better result in the semi and possibly in the final/
“This was not the race I planned, I think I can do better in the Semi finals or final though but it has been great here, the atmosphere is okay. The timing is not actually what we scheduled for but thank God I am able to get to the semi-final.
“I hope to get a PB in the semi finals. By God’s grace, I will strive for the gold medal,” he said.
