David Ojih produced a remarkable performance to emerge champion of the Scrabble-X Season 3 Championship category after defeating top contenders John Aiyedun and Cyril Umebiye.
Ojih finished at the top of the standings with three wins and two losses, recording a cumulative spread of +199. He also posted a 60 percent win rate, an average score of 447.8 and a biggest win spread of +203 during the competition.
The eventual champion began his campaign with a narrow 409–416 loss to Segun Durojaiye before bouncing back with a 440–410 victory against Jimoh Abdulmumin.
Ojih later suffered a heavy 406–514 defeat to Julius Adeyemi but responded strongly with a dominant 465–384 win over Aiyedun.
He sealed the title in emphatic fashion with a commanding 519–316 triumph against Umebiye, a result that secured his place at the summit of the standings.
Segun Durojaiye Finishes Strong
Segun Durojaiye also finished the tournament with three wins and two losses, ending with a cumulative spread of +64.
Durojaiye recorded a 60 percent win rate, an average score of 422.6 and a biggest win spread of +138.
His campaign included victories against Ojih (416–409), Umebiye (426–424) and Adeyemi (459–321). However, defeats to Aiyedun (421–429) and Abdulmumin (391–466) affected his title chances.
Aiyedun and Umebiye Impress Despite Missing Title
John Aiyedun ended the competition with three wins and two losses alongside a cumulative spread of -6.
Aiyedun recorded a 60 percent win rate, a 426.2 average score and a biggest win spread of +85.
His victories came against Adeyemi (477–392), Durojaiye (429–421) and Abdulmumin (419–397), while losses to Umebiye (422–462) and Ojih (384–465) denied him the championship.
Meanwhile, Cyril Umebiye also secured three wins and two losses but finished with a cumulative spread of -91.
Umebiye posted a 60 percent win rate and a 409.2 average score, with his biggest win spread standing at +59.
He defeated Aiyedun (462–422), Abdulmumin (455–396) and Adeyemi (389–374), but narrow defeat to Durojaiye (424–426) and a crushing loss to Ojih (316–519) ultimately ended his title hopes.
