A late strike from Basit salvaged a 1–1 draw for TomTom FC, the University of Ibadan ‘based’ football side, in a thrilling friendly encounter against the IITA All Stars yesterday at the IITA Football Pitch.
Basit, a 200-level Mathematics student, came off the bench to score his first goal for the club, burying a well-placed effort past the IITA goalkeeper in the dying minutes of the game.
Before his introduction, TomTom FC had created a couple of chance but were unable to convert them after which IITA took an early lead in the second half.
The visitors, however, showed determination, gradually taking control of possession and pressing for an equaliser. Their persistence finally paid off when Basit slotted the ball into after an assist from Mjay, to draw level and deny IITA a home victory.
The result reflects TomTom FC’s growing cohesion and fighting spirit as they continue to build momentum ahead of their next round of friendly fixtures.
