Rising football talent Onunkwo Chukwuebuka Jr. John has expressed his intention to pursue a professional football career after being named Most Valuable Player (MVP) at the 2025 Daniel Oreoluwa Adebiyi (D.O.A) Foundation Soccer Challenge.
John, who also claimed the MVP title in the 2024 edition, scored two goals during this year’s tournament, further solidifying his reputation as one of the most promising young players on the grassroots football scene.
“This honestly means a lot because I never expected to win the MVP award this year,” John said after receiving the honour. “I won it last year and I did it again. I am very happy that we have a foundation that sponsors this kind of competition.”
Expressing gratitude to the D.O.A Foundation, which organizes the annual youth-focused tournament, John who captained Chrisland School A credited the platform for encouraging young athletes like himself.
“I am very grateful to the D.O.A Foundation for giving me this opportunity to win the MVP, 2025,” he said.
Looking ahead, the young star is hopeful and confident about what the future holds.
“Well, I see myself playing professionally tomorrow. I believe I can, believe I will. I finish my secondary school and I pray God guides me in becoming a footballer, in Jesus’ name,” he added.
