The football team of school of technology continued their stellar performance with an impressive win to maintain the top position of the Yabatech SUG (YASUG) league after match day 3.
They defeated School of Liberal Studies, 2-0 to garner seven points to cement their position at the top.
However, closely behind the team are school of part time and engineering who are on seven points but separated by goal difference.
School of technology leads the log with an advantage of 4 goal differences tied with School of Part Time who are second on the log while team engineering are on the third position with 2 goal difference.
The trio’s results are a reflection of the competitiveness of the YASUG League.
School of Management and Business Studies bounced back, defeating school of environmental, 1-0 to stay at the fourth position while Liberal Studies and Environmental are on the fifth and sixth position.
Rocking the bottom of the league are the School of Art and Science who are in seventh and eighth position.In an interview with the YASUG 45th sports director, Comrade Odenike Olamilekan underscored the importance of the league, saying it aimed at providing a platform for the students to showcase their talents.
“The essence of the league is to improve talents, bring out grassroots games, encourage our students and show them to the world that we have talent here because football is our thing in Yabatech,” he said.
He called for sponsorship to support the growth of the students’ sports competition.
“We are open to sponsors. The more the sponsors, the bigger the prizes,” he said.
