Arowolo, Egbo goals secure first Inter Lagos FC’ 24/25 NNL home win

Inter Lagos FC’s right back player Jamiu Arowolo and midfielder Othuke Egbo scored goals against Igbajo United on Sunday helped to secure their first home win in the 2024/2025 Nigerian National League season.

The Lagos based team who played host at the NNL matchday 4 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena securing 2-0 victory, bounced back from their away defeat to Dakkada FC in Uyo recorded at matchday 3 fixture.

16 minutes after the blast of the whistle to kickoff, Arowolo gave the host the lead after he slotted the ball benefiting from a rebounce within a close range.

The early goal stirred the hunger for the host to double as Babus Gaye and Favour Aroyameh dictated the pace and dominated the midfield, racing Uchenna Njoku who played from the left wing creating chances in search for a second goal.

But their efforts were abortive owing to the resistance of their opponents defence and failure to convert their chances.

The first half ended 1-0.

The resumption of the second half saw the introduction of Onyedikachi Ohanedo, Patrick Onyemakhai and Godspower Akekoromowei who replaced Gaye, Amir Sabiu and Arowolo increasing the tempo of the match.

Igbajo United’s efforts to restore parity were futile as Inter Lagos defence kept their opponents’ strikers at bay.

Inter Lagos FC’s unrelent efforts to double the score came to bear as Abubakar Shuiabu was upended at the yard of 18, leading to the call for penalty kick.

In the 78 minutes, Egbo rose up to the responsibility, converting the penalty kick to double the lead, boosting their confidence.

The match ended 2-0 in a favour of the host.

Present at the match was the chairman of the NNL, George Aluo, among other dignitaries with the Lagos team facing up against Abia Comets away from home in their next game.
