The state commissioner for information, Charles Aniagwu whio made this disclosure during a press briefing, stressed that Cameroon and Niger would join other 3 to complete 5, adding that the game where the invited contingents would participate has been billed for Wednesday, 7th December 2022.
“The game that they are going to involved in is on the 7th, it will become wise so as to other cut expenses and to do other things to now come on the 4th rather than coming on the 7th when you don’t have anything to do, now for those who come earlier may also come for the purpose of training.
“As at yesterday, I do know about 3 out of those that have come in, we have Ghana, Gabon and Benin republic, then Cameroon and Niger both of them are to come in. In their games, where they are involved, we have not gotten to that level, we hope that when we get to that level the five of them will come in.
“Don’t forget they are not coming in to carry the kind of cup that we are carrying, we bring them in to spice up the event, to also motivate those who look at them like bigger athletes and for them to compete with.” He stated.
Also, Nigerian former athlete, Mr. Enefiok Udo-Obong who won the gold medal in 4 x 400-meter relay at the 2000 Summer Olympics, shared with sportxvibe.com.ng that the outcome of the field and track game would be full of both expected and unexpected result.
“They are very many good athletes around, they are some that Nigeria are used to and they are some that would be seen for the first time, no matter what that can happen, what you can expect is stiff competition, people to be surprised about some performance, expect disappointments, tears, joys, range of emotion will be here, it is going to be a full house, it is going to be exciting, people are just glad to be competing again.” He said.
