Remo Stars U-15 won Mountain of Fire Miracles, MFM FC 2-1 at the quarterfinal of the ongoing Nigerian Professional Football League, NPFL LALIGA U-15 Promises Youth League held on Monday, at their home ground in Ikenne, Ogun state.
Earlier before the match, Kano Pillars had edged out Gombe United 3-2 to secure their spot in the semi-finals.
After the lost against Gombe United in their last match, 4-1, Remo Stars bounced back to pip MFM FC 2-1 in the quarter-finals which pushed them forward to the next round- the semi-finals.
The deadlock of the southwest derby clash was broken by Remo Stars Adejimi Peter in the 10th minutes to give his team the lead after slotting in the ball to the back of the net.
Four minutes later, Ohamesi Chigozie slammed the ball after his opponent’s goal keeper pushed the ball out from a long range free kick cross from the flank to make the score 2-0.
The match ended 2-0 in the first stanza.
The second stanza witnessed an early equaliser from MFM FC Francis Ajibola in the 32th minutes to reduce the deficit after he converted from a spot kick.
MFM FC had chances but could not convert them to goals.
Remo Stars could have ended the tally to 3-1 but were denied after MFM Fc goalkeeper saved a penalty kick at the death of the full time.
As it stands, Remo Stars would slug it out against Kano Pillars in the semifinals on Thursday, May 5 2022.
