The Pan African Scrabble Association, (PANASA) has urged scrabble players across the continent to start early preparation for their travel plans ahead of the 2024 African Scrabble Championship billed to hold in Freetown, Sierra Leone.

The championship is slated from the 23rd to 27th October, 2024.

The association’s president Mr. Adekoyejo Adegbesan in a statement also urged country associations to start the search for sponsorship for the championship.

“Players/Associations are to make findings on the best economic route to Freetown, Sierra Leone.

“This is the best time to commence sponsorship lobbying. PANASA is committing to the issuance of letters to country associations to support this,” the statement reads.

He assured that the Scrabble continental governing body will meet with some airlines which travel through the routes to seek discount on traveling expenses

“PANASA will approach some airlines plying the route to seek discount codes to help cushion travel expenses, however a positive response is not guaranteed, hence we implore players/associations to continue with their plans. The discount code will be a plus if accepted,” the statement reads.
