11th FASU Games: UNILAG’s Isaiah Aims At Averaging Over 21 Points Per Game In Basketball Tournament

Lagos, Nigeria – Awajimowa Isaiah, a power forward for the University of Lagos (UNILAG), has set an ambitious target for the upcoming 11th Federation of Africa Sports Universities (FASU) Basketball Games, aiming to average over 21 points per game. The tournament is scheduled to take place from September 20 to 29, 2024.

Isaiah, a 300-level Finance student at UNILAG, averaged 20 points per game in his previous season. In an exclusive interview with Sportxvibe.com.ng, he expressed his determination to surpass that record in the upcoming competition.

“My expectation is to go in there and do my best, always aiming to beat my current average,” Isaiah stated confidently. He emphasized his commitment to contributing to his team’s success, highlighting the strength of his squad.

“We have world-class players on our team, and with the excellent coaches supporting us, we are fully prepared,” Isaiah said.

“We are confident in our ability to compete against any opponent, and with the training we’ve undergone, we are ready.”

However, Isaiah also acknowledged the challenges of balancing his athletic and academic responsibilities. “It’s tough, but I make sure to wake up early for training, attend classes, complete my homework, and stay disciplined to avoid procrastination and distractions,” he explained.

Isaiah also revealed his connection with Nigeria’s NBA star, Precious Achiuwa, who plays as a power forward for the New York Knicks. Isaiah shared that Achiuwa has provided him with valuable tips and encouragement to enhance his game.

In addition to Achiuwa, Isaiah looks up to American professional basketball player Kevin Durant, whom he considers his favorite player. He also expressed admiration for Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Greek-born Nigerian star, describing him as one of the players he respects most.

As Isaiah and his team prepare for the FASU Basketball Games, the UNILAG community eagerly anticipates a strong performance, with hopes that Isaiah’s determination will translate into success on the court.
